There are some easy ways to figure out how to structure chair or table massage for your event, spa party or corporate program.

Step 1. Number of People Getting a Massage
First figure out the number of people getting a massage at the event. Many times, you will not know. Go Massage’s general rule of thumb is that if the massage is free then 80% of the people will be getting the massage. Therefore, if 100 people will be at the event, we can assume that 80 people will be getting a massage.
Step 2. Length of Each Massage
Many times, you will not know. Generally speaking, chair massages can be 5 min, 10 min, 15 min. , 20 min. or 25 min. each. The calculation is as follows:
5 min – 10 recipients per hour
10 min – 5 recipients per hour
15 min – 3.5 recipients per hou
20 min – 2.5 recipients per hour
25 min – 2 recipients per hour
In this example, we’ll say that you chose 10 min. massages.
Step 3. Figure out Total Man Hours
1. Look at Step 2 and see that there can be 5 – 10 min. massages done in an hour
2. Look at Number of People – 80
3. Divide 80 by 5 and you have 16 Man Hours
Step 4. Time Frame of the Event? Limited or Not?
Does it have to be from 2pm to 4pm or is there some flexibility as to the number of hours. In this example, let’s say that it’s 8 hours total – from 10am to 6pm - 8 hours.
Step 5. Figure out Number of Therapists and Hours Each Therapists
Divide Man Hours in Step 3 by Total Hours of Event in Step 4. In this example, you have 16 man hours, but the event is only 8 hours, so you could have 2 therapists for 8 hours each which would equal 16 man hours.
Step 6: Getting a Quote
Then, all you need to do is get a quote. Generally speaking, the more hours and less therapists, the more affordable the quote. Go Massage’s quote for the chair or event massage above would be $68/hr. not including gratuity. (If you booked 20 hour or more, the rate would have gone down to $63/hr.)
